This week has been yet another busy one in Lime Tree Class!

We have wrapped up our work on 'The Emperor of Absurdia', a book that the children have really enjoyed! We have enjoyed looking at the fantasy aspect of the story and the exciting setting that is created all from the little boys bedroom!

In Maths our Year 2 children have been working hard on adding pairs of 2-digit numbers, partitioning to add the ones and the tens. This is also their homework piece for this week. Year 1 have been working on using concrete objects and drawings to help them with basic subtraction to 10.

This week we have also had a little time working on the songs for our Christmas play. The children have made a fantastic effort with learning the words and they are really enjoying the songs!

A quick note just to remind parents and pupils that next Thursday will be a dress down day for Children in Need. Pupils are welcome to wear their own clothes, or Pudsey Bear inspired clothing for school. We just ask that they donate some coins to Children In Need and help fill up our Pudsey Bear figure. We are doing this a day earlier as next Friday is a staff training day so the children will not be in school.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekly Update - 05.11.21

Mr Spence (t.spence) on: Lime Tree Class Blog 2021-2022

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great week off and managed to recharged their batteries before the busy run up to Christmas!

We have had a very busy and exciting first week back after the holiday, getting straight back into some addition and subtraction in our Maths lessons and some excellent fantasy story writing in English.

We also had a lovely Great Fire of London acting workshop on Tuesday, which the children really enjoyed. We had Sally and Ann in from Northern Arts Factory to do some exciting activities with us. We acted out how we thought people would feel during the time of The Great Fire, and we also used ribbons and throws to make the shapes that we thought the fire would make. The workshop was a great way to round up our topic, before moving on to Amazing Artists this half term.

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend and we have reminded children to stay safe around bonfires, fireworks and sparklers!
