Well I can't quite believe that we have come to the end of our first half term together!

it has been an excellent first half term for us in Lime Tree Class. We have really enjoyed our Great Fire of London topic which has lead to some excellent discussions and learning.

Pupils have settled into life in Lime Tree Class really well and we are looking forward to getting started with our 'Amazing Artists' topic next half term.

We haven't set any homework or spellings but it would be great if children could keep up with reading their reading books. We have also sent home new library books for the children to share with adults or read independently at home.

Have a great break everyone and have a well deserved rest!

We have come to the end of a very busy week in Lime Tree Class!

We have been role playing as different people this week to help us with our diary writing. We have had some excellent writing from the point of view of Samuel Pepys for our diaries this week and it is clear to see just how much the pupils in our class have engaged with The Great Fire of London topic.

We have started to look more in depth at addition and subtraction of 1's and 10's in Year 2, whilst Year 1 have been working hard at understanding addition as a concept using numbers within 10.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow! What a busy week in Lime Tree Class!

We have been working extremely hard in our Maths and English lessons this week, writing diaries of Katie's trip around London. We have had some excellent ideas of how to change the story and the children have really enjoyed pretending to be different characters.

On Wednesday and Thursday we have had our exciting Great Fire of London experience. Year 2 children had theirs on Wednesday and Year 1 had their experience on Thursday, both joining their other year group piers for a day learning all about The Great Fire.

We had a visit on each day from Annie who helped us make models of houses from 1666, looking at their features in more detail. She taught us lots more about the details of The Great Fire, and how it spread to quickly.

We then set up the houses in a narrow street, along with St. Paul's Cathedral and spent the afternoon burning our excellent models down! The children enjoyed watching the real life re-enactment of The Great Fire and it was great to see what actually happened all those years ago!

See the pictures from our experience below!

Have a great weekend everyone
