Hello Lime Tree Class!

We have had a fantastic week learning in Lime Tree Class as the children have been really eager with our English and Topic work this week. We have been writing our own versions of 'Katie in London' this week where we have changed some key aspects such as characters or settings! The children have loved being creative and thinking of new ways to alter the story.

In our topic lessons we have looked at Samuel Pepys in more detail. We have looked at sources of information from the past and discussed at length how we can tell if something is a good source of information from the past or whether it would not be helpful.

We are extremely excited for our Great Fire of London day next week - Year 2 will do this on Wednesday and Year 1 will have their day on Thursday. Each child will need a medium sized (cereal or shoe box size) box for their activities.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mr Spence

Another busy week in Lime Tree Class comes to an end!

It was great to meet so many of you at the 'meet the teacher' evenings this week and it was lovely to see the children so excited to show their adults around the learning environment!

Pupils have worked exceptionally hard this week with their Maths and English work. We have particularly enjoyed our new class text 'Katie in London'. We have found out lots of facts about modern London and we had a great afternoon on Tuesday comparing these to how London must have been in the past.

On Friday we made the most of the weather and managed to get outside for our first Outdoor Adventurous Activity (OAA) lesson in PE,. This focused on teamwork and communication. The children had a range of tasks to do, including collecting lost treasure in the seat and getting it back to land without going in the water! See the pictures below for some exceptional teamwork!

Next week we will be continuing with our Katie in London story and looking at characters in more depth.

Have a great weekend all!

Mr Spence

What a fantastic first week in Lime Tree Class!

Our new pupils have engaged extremely well with their learning this week and we have settled in to new routines straight away. We are excited to get started with our topic about 'The Great Fire of London' next week and find out what happened.

A note was sent out to parents in KS1 about some short meet the teacher meetings next week which I hope the majority of people will be able to attend. This is a chance to see the learning environment and chat to Me, Mrs Bellwood and Miss Birks.

I hope you all have a great weekend and a well deserved rest after a busy first week back in school.

Mr Spence
