Oak Tree Class 2021-2022

Weekly Update 10/12/21

Mr Ranton (r.ranton) on: Oak Tree Class 2021-2022

Over the last couple of weeks, Oak Tree Class have been doing some coding in Computing. We have continued to develop or debugging and problem solving skills whilst programming different sprites to move around and collect items. Click on the link below to have a go yourself.

In English, we have begun writing a story using the opening line: 'I crawled through the dark, damp, slimy and scary tunnel and…' We had a interesting discussion on story genres and the pupils shared their ideas on where the story might go, with some great imagination.

Rehearsals have really taken off this week, with Oak Tree Class given further stage directions in the hall. We have continued rehearsing our songs in class and the pupils are shown greater confidence with their performing. It's going to be a great show.

Weekly Update 03/12/21

Mr Ranton (r.ranton) on: Oak Tree Class 2021-2022

We have had Assessment Week in Oak Tree class this week, and everyone has done really well with their assessments. I've really enjoyed marking the work and seeing the progress the pupils have made.

In Science, we investigated friction by testing how far a car travelled having rolled down a length of material. We discussed variables, made predictions, collect and analysed results and wrote a conclusion. Have a look at the pupils in action below.

Our Key Stage Performance is coming together. Oak Tree Class have begun to join Lower Key Stage 2 in the hall to run through rehearsal this week. We have continued practising our songs in class and I'm really impressed with the pupils' commitment to learning and preforming.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Weekly Update 26/11/21

We have continued working on our descriptive writing, with pupils using some fantastic vocabulary and a range of similes and personification.

In Maths, pupils have done very well with multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, showing great understanding with directions and movements of place values.

Pupils have really enjoyed practicing our Christmas performance songs and are now able to perform some without the lyrics. Please keep practicing at home.

I hope you have a great weekend and, for those who are going, enjoy the Christmas Fayre
