Oak Tree Class 2021-2022

Weekly Update 19/11/21

Mr Ranton (r.ranton) on: Oak Tree Class 2021-2022

This week, we had a change of genre in English. We begun looking a descriptive writing. We begun discussing word types and building up phrases and sentences with lots of great detail.

Pupils have continued enjoying their gymnastics during their Fisical P.E. sessions on a Wednesday. This week, they were working in pairs to create synchronized routines using point and patch holds. A warm up the pupils particularly enjoy is the Bean Game. Say, "Microwave bean,"  to one of the Year 5s and watch what happens.

In Oak Class, we have begun practicing some songs for our Christmas production 'The Snow Queen' (the story Disney based Frozen on). Click the link below to watch a video telling the story.

The Snow Queen

The pupils has continued enjoying their new P.E. units (badminton and gymnastics) this week, where they have learnt a range of skills that they will keep progressing with.

We continued with our Forces topic, by investigating water resistance. We discussed variables and measurements before writing our predictions and conclusions.

As it was Remembrance day on Thursday, we had some class discussion and completed tasks relating to the topic. The pupils appropriately designed a new product that could be sold to raise donations. I was very proud with of the class, who observed the 2 minutes silence, with great respect.

I hope you enjoy the Remembrance weekend.

Weekly Update 05.11.21

Mr Ranton (r.ranton) on: Oak Tree Class 2021-2022

It was nice to welcome Oak Tree Class back into school for what is going to be a busy, fun packed half term.

Before half term, we began discussing poetry. We were able to complete our poems at the start of the week. They are based on our school trip to Armley Mills and we have aimed to follow an AABB rhyming pattern, with interesting vocabulary and use of onomatomania's.

Our Design and Technology unit this half term is going to be based around Global Food which links to the British Empire of the Victorian Era. Today we discussed and tried some food grown and produced all over the world.

Last half term, we completed out ebooks based on the Dr Barnardo biographies we wrote in English. Scan the QR code below to see an example of the pupils' work.

I hope you enjoy the Bonfire Night weekend. Stay safe!
