Oak Tree Class 2021-2022

Weekly Update 15/07/22

Mr Ranton (r.ranton) on: Oak Tree Class 2021-2022

A couple of interesting things have happened this week. Firstly, the pupils had the opportunity to meet their new teachers and spend sometime with them on Wednesday. Parents/Carers were informed of the new teachers on Tuesday, so there was a buzz of excitement as soon as the pupils got into school. After spending time with either Miss Bairstow (Ash Tree Class - Y5/6) or Mrs Trotter (Maple Tree Class - Y6), the pupils were even more excited about starting the new school year.

The school Drama Club have been rehearsing for their end of year production 'Emil and the Detectives'. Years 2, 3, 4 and 5 all had the opportunity to go to Yeadon Town Hall and watch the dress rehearsal on Thursday afternoon. It was great to see the pupils performing and the pupils were well behaved at the venue and going back and forth.

KS2 had their Sports Day on Wednesday afternoon. The pupils did an amazing job at competing in their races and supporting each other. The racers showed great resilience and everyone finished their races.

In art, we have painted our Ancient Egyptian based creations. We discussed the appropriate colours and painted our Death Masks and cartouches.

The pupils finished their leaflets in English, this week. It was great to see so much information and detail, as well as some great persuasive features been used to convince people to visit Yeadon.

In PE, the pupils have worked on their accuracy using a tennis racket. The pupils had to get the ball to land in the hoop, before taking a step back. The pupils showed great resilience with this activity.

In art, the pupils have 'paper mached' their Ancient Egyptian death masks. It was a very messy experience, but the pupils enjoyed getting 'stuck' in. We are going to be painting them in the coming sessions. I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
