Hello Cherry Tree Class (and parents).  I hope you have all had a good week and have kept yourselves busy with your home learning.

You all had your Office 365 information in your pack with your email and password so that you can access teams (please see Miss Tidey's video on how to use teams on the home learning page).  I have sent you all an invite for Friday afternoon for a story and catch-up session.  On this occasion you will not be able to talk to me, we will do this another time with smaller groups.  Well done to those of you who have completed Miss Tidey’s assignment on teams.  There will be more assignments for you to do next week.

Remember to do your home learning each day and get some exercise too!

Click on the link for your home learning timetable.  Any extra sheets are in this zip folder attached below.  If you cannot print work then remember you can complete work in the book that was in your pack you collected just remember to write the Learning Objective (L.O.).

If you need to send me any work via email or ask any questions (including parents) please use this email address cherry@ruffordparkprimary.org.uk

Enjoy your weekend!

Well we have reached the end of the Autumn Term.  I think we have done amazingly well in Cherry Tree Class to have managed the whole term with no Bubble Closure. I am so pleased that the children and staff have managed to keep healthy and safe.

We have had a very Christmassy week in school.  On Monday we watched the Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomime and enjoyed some lovely treats.  Thank you to The Friends of Rufford Park for providing both the pantomime and the treats!

On Thursday we had our class party.  The children enjoyed playing games and dancing to some Christmas songs.

Today we have had both a real and virtual visit from Santa and the children have all been sent home with a gift.  We have also had our wonderful Christmas dinner!

This week we have also had some competition winners. Georgia and Stanley were both 'runners up' winners in the Pinnacle Christmas Card Competition.  Jack was a winner in the Rufford Park Christmas Card  Competition.  Well done to our winners and all the children who took part.

Thank you for all your support this term and all the lovely Christmas gifts and good wishes.

Wishing you all a VERY Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy 2021.

Well we have come to the end of yet another week.  We have been adding to Santa's beard each day and remembering to open our Advent Calendar.

In English we have been listening to the story 'The Jolly Christmas Postman'.  The children have written descriptions of the Postman and some invitations to the characters inviting them to our class Christmas Party.

In maths we have continued to look at multiplication and adding and subtracting numbers within 100.

We have been using our creative talents to make Christmas Cards and design Christmas Jumpers!

Next week should be a week full of fun and excitement.  We have a virtual panto, class party and Christmas dinner to look forward to. Thursday is our party day. The children will not be doing PE on this day and so will not need their PE kit.

Well it is beginning to feel a bit more like Christmas in Cherry Tree Class.  The tree is up.  The advent calendar is being opened. We even have a special Santa that is having his beard slowly put on as the days go by.  We also have our class letter box which is filling up nicely.

The children have enjoyed doing some ‘Guided Drawing’ this week.  They have drawn some fantastic pictures of Florence Nightingale following the step by step guide.

In English we have been continuing to write about Florence Nightingale.  We have written recounts of her journey to Scutari and an acrostic poem using her name.

In Maths we have been looking at multiplication and how we can use arrays to solve them.  The children will continue to practise using these in their homework this week.

The snow during the day caused great excitement.  Perhaps we will have a white Christmas.

A great week in Cherry Tree Class Tree!

The children have enjoyed learning about Edith Cavell.  We have talked about how she was similar and different to Florence Nightingale.  In English the children have written some amazing diaries and postcards as Florence Nightingale.

In maths we have continued to work on money.  We have been adding and finding change.

As a treat for working so hard, the children have enjoyed eating some school grown apples this afternoon.

We look forward to another great week next week.
