Cherry Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Weekly Post 19.03.21

Mrs Moore (f.moore) on: Cherry Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

This week has just flown by.  It has been another really busy week in Cherry Tree Class.

This week we have continued to use the story of The Three Little Pigs for our writing.  The children have written some amazing descriptions of the pigs making sure to include all our Year 2 objectives.  We have also written some letters of apology as The Big Bad Wolf.

In maths we have been going back over multiplication and division.  We have looked at different strategies to use to solve these types of problems.

The children have drawn some beautiful sunflower pictures.  We looked at Van Gogh's famous painting to help us.

The children have all been amazing this week and worked so hard.  They have all settled back into the daily routines really well.

We are looking forward to another amazing week next week!

It has been so good to have all the children back in school.  They have all made a fantastic start!

We have been listening to the story of 'The Three Little Pigs' this week.  We have talked about different versions of the story too.  The children have written character descriptions and have sequenced and re-told the story in their own words.

In maths we have been going back over place value and reminding ourselves of the value of digits and partitioning numbers in different ways.  We have also been solving number sentences involving addition and subtraction.

In science we have been learning about seeds and what conditions they need to grow.  The children have all planted some dwarf sunflowers.  They will be watching them grow and eventually taking them home.

The children have enjoyed talking about Kings and Queens.  They have shown their knowledge gained from their home learning and we have had some really interesting conversations.

Reading books will be changed and ready to take home on Monday.  Please remember to record all your child's home reading so that we know they have completed the books.

The children have all been given spellings to practise for next Friday's test. Maths or English homework will be sent from next Friday.

We have had a very busy week and I am sure the children will be tired.

Have a great weekend!

Hello Cherry Tree Class!

I hope you all had a good last week of home learning and are ready for coming back on Monday.

Please remember that we have PE on Monday, so you will need to come in your kit.  If would also be really helpful if you could bring back your school reading books, reading records and any library books you still have.

Enjoy your weekend.

I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday morning.

Hello Cherry Tree Class!

Well what fantastic news this week that you will all be coming back to school on the 8th of March. I am really looking forward to welcoming you all back. So, this is our last blog to you and hopefully after this they will be about you and what you have been doing in school.

This is also your last timetable of home learning.  Please try to keep doing some schoolwork each day.  You will notice there is no maths set for Thursday as this is World Book Day.  On this day you have been given lots of book related activities.

I hope you enjoy your last week of home learning!
