The end of the school year has arrived!

Although another unusual one, it has been a really good year.  Cherry Tree class have been amazing and I feel so lucky to have been able to teach every single one of them.  The children should all be so proud of what they have achieved this year and how well they adapted to all the changes that had to be made.

Thank you so much for all your thoughtful gifts, cards and words. Thank you also for all your support this year, especially during our period of Home Learning.  Let's hope that the children can have a more normal year next year.

Children, remember to complete our school summer reading challenge.

Have a wonderful summer!

This week has flown by!

We have had a very busy week trying to pack in as much learning as we can before the summer holidays.

It has been a very 'Seaside' themed week.  In English we have been writing shape poems linked with the seaside.  We have had some amazing poems about all sorts of seaside themed things; fish and chips. ice-creams and the sea to name but a few.

The most exciting part of the week was our 'Shorts and Shades Day,' to celebrate the end of our topic.  The sun shone and we all had a fabulous time. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Next week is the last week of the term and year.  What a year it has been.

Can we please have all library and reading books returned to school by Monday so they can be put away ready for September.

Have a wonderful weekend.  It is going to be a hot one!

What a great week in Cherry Tree Class!

The highlight of the week has been our 'Sports Day'.  The children had a great time on the field taking part in a variety of  sports events.  We were in country teams; England, Denmark, Italy and Spain.  The children all joined in showing great sportsmanship. The adults has their own race which became quite a competitive Egg and Spoon Race.  Miss Jones came 2nd and I was 3rd!

We have also been on the Key Stage 2 Trim Trail this week.  The children showed great skill and control.

We have continued our work on the Seaside this week.  We have been looking at St Ives and comparing it to Yeadon. Next Thursday we are having a  'Shorts and Shades' Seaside Themed Day.  The children will be bringing a letter home on Monday with more details of the day.

In Science the children have been investigating 'What happens when warm water is poured on skittle sweets.' They had great fun finding out about this with Miss Tidey.

Summer Reading Challenge.  The library is running its usual summer reading challenge this year.  It would be great if all the children signed up to it and made sure that they kept reading through the summer holidays.  Please click on the link to find more information.

Let's hope that when we return after the weekend that England have won the European Championship. Fingers crossed that it's really COMING HOME!!

Enjoy your weekend!

Well what a fantastic end to the week!

The children have all had a great time enjoying all the activities at the 'Friends of Rufford Park Funday.'  They have enjoyed crazy golf, goal scoring, badminton, wellie wanging and netball to name but a few of the activities. I think the Year 6 children were quite amazed at the Year 2's football skills! We even had a visit from the Leeds United Mascot Kop Cat.

The day of fun ended, like all sunny days should, with a cold ice lolly.

Thanks to all the parents who made this day possible.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Cherry Tree Class have had a great week.  They have all worked incredibly hard!

We have continued our work on our 'Seaside' topic.  We have been looking at how the seaside has changed and used picture evidence to help us. The children enjoyed learning about Bathing Machines and what they were used for.

In English we have been looking at a different book this week, 'The Snail and the Whale'.  The children have written, as the snail, about how they felt and what they saw on their adventure on the tail of the humpback whale.

The children have started to design their own seaside themed bunting.  They will be using their sewing skills later in the half term to make their bunting.  Watch this space...

Enjoy your long weekend.
