Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello Pear Tree Children,

Just a very short message this week! Please keep working hard at home. I really enjoy seeing the work that you are proud of and the effort that you have put into your home learning.

It was great to see so many of you this week in our small group meetings on Teams this week and I hope to be able to see you again next week. The timetable for the meetings can be seen below:

I hope that you are all reading at home. It is really important! If you would like to hear an author reading their own book to you, you can choose one from these two links:

Virtual Library

Books for Topics

Keep reading and learning everyone!

Mrs Connolly

Parents,

Please do check your junk folders in your emails for messages from me or my class email. You would need to restore a message to your inbox and 'mark sender as safe'.

Please see below the home learning timetable and resources for week 4 (!).

Home Learning Resources (wk 4)

I would also like to let you know that you are able to access this timetable and resources on Teams also under the files section.

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello Pear Tree Class,

I am really missing you all very much. It is very quiet in our classroom without you all. I am pleased that lots of you are staying home and staying safe at the moment. I can also tell that you are all working very hard at home for your adults. Well done!

I have seen lots of fabulous work that your grown ups have sent to me either by email or on MS teams. I have now added some pictures of your home learning on our class page under the Spring highlights. Click HERE to have a look at the hard work being done at home.

Thank you to everyone who attended our catch up meeting on Friday. We had 19 children join which is fantastic! I really enjoyed seeing your faces. We will have our catch up and story time every Friday so I hope to see you all this week too. I will also be sending out invitations to small group meetings this week. This will hopefully give us chance to chat a little bit more. Keep an eye on teams for your invite!

Your work for the week commencing 18th January is below. Parents I have tried to provide you with as much material as I can to help make things easier for you and to keep the children engaged and busy. Please feel free to amend or leave things out as appropriate.

Parents, I have sent everyone an email about reading and phonics materials that you can access online. Please do check your email and if you haven't received it, have a look in your junk folder as it may have gone there.

If you need to contact me at all, please feel free to send an email to pear@ruffordparkprimary.org.uk.

Take care and stay safe

Mrs Connolly

Weekly Update - 08.01.21

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello everyone!

I hope you have all had a good week, kept yourselves busy with your home learning and been able to take some time to enjoy the snow today. In school we took a bit of time to go and have some snow fun too! Have a look at our photo below.

You were given your Microsoft Office 365 information in your work pack with your email and password so that you can access Microsoft Teams. I am still learning how to use this too so we will be able to work it out together! I will send you all an invite for a Friday afternoon catch-up session and perhaps a story. There will be more assignments for you to log onto Microsoft Teams and complete next week.

Remember to be really good for your adults at home and keep up with your home learning as much as you can. Don't forget to get some  exercise too and remember that you can access Koo Koo Kangaroo movement videos on YouTube!

Click on this link for your home learning timetable for next week. Any extra sheets are in this zip folder attached.*EDIT If you are looking for some more practical maths work to be doing I have found some activities and have put them in this zip folder

If you need to send me any work via email or ask any questions (including parents) please use this email address pear@ruffordparkprimary.org.uk

Enjoy your weekend!

Weekly Update 18.12.20

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Phew! What a week it has been!

We haven't had too much time for the 'normal' lessons as we have had a lot of crafty, Christmassy activities to do. We have done a little bit of maths this week and we learned about 2D and 3D shapes. We have also completed some work on The Snowman and we sequenced or drew the events from this lovely story. The party yesterday was lots of fun and we had a fantastic time. All photos from the Christmas party can be viewed by clicking this link - Christmas Party Photos.

I do feel incredibly lucky that we have now managed to make it through this first term without bursting our little bubble and it is thanks to the hard work of all children, parents and staff to make sure that we have stayed safe, well and able to keep learning.

I hope that you all have a fantastic (and restful) Christmas break and we look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.

Mrs Connolly

Weekly Update 11.12.20

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello again,

This week we have done some brief assessments to help us to see how the children are getting on. They have done some independent writing, a maths test that we did as a whole class and some practice phonics checks. However this week has been more exciting because we have started to look very wintery and Christmassy in Pear Tree Class this week. We have been busy making snowflakes to put up around our classroom and Miss Peacock has done a wonderful job of transforming the reading corner into a wintery wonderland. We have also spent today making some Christmas or winter cards.

This week we also met Edgar. We watched a video of his antics and then we described him to see if we could find him. When Edgar came to see us  he looked at all of our work and he left us a note! This made us wonder if we should start trying to catch him so we wrote some instructions and gave Mrs Connolly the job of staying behind after school to catch him. Don't worry though, the children advised me that I should be wearing fireproof clothes, just in case Edgar hadn't managed to control his flames yet! Edgar did indeed come to visit us and he left us some wintery work to do today and a toy version of himself for us to look after. He couldn't stay because he had important dragon business to attend to!

Well done to all the children (and Edgar) for a fabulous week!

Please take a look at our photos below.

Take care and have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Connolly
