Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello,

This is our final week of home learning!

I am really looking forward to having you all back in school. You have all done incredibly well at the home learning and I am so impressed at your effort and the work and activities that you have done at home. Well done to all the children and also the adults who have changed into teachers over the space of an evening.

Our small group meetings will be changed this week to have a chat and maybe play a short game. We will only have 2 groups. If you are a Magenta Monkey, you have been moved to the Gold Gorillas at 10.00. If you are a Black Bat, you have been moved to the Blue Birds group at 10.30am. The timetable is below. I will see you all then and if you have any questions or worries about coming back to school please tell me then or adults can send an email.

Here is your work for this week

Spring 2 Week 2 Planning

Spring 2 Week 2 Resources

Don't forget about the young artists summer show for you to submit any lovely art work. Also make sure you enjoy world book day, have fun and read.

Have a great final week with your wonderful parent teachers!

See you soon!

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello everyone,

I hope that you have all had a wonderful break and had lots of opportunities for play and fun.

I do hope that I will be able to see you all in person soon, however for the meantime we will keep going with our teams calls and home learning.

I would like to see you all on the small group meetings on Wednesday 24th February.

As always, any key worker's children who will not be in school that day are welcome to just join any of the meetings.

Our topic has now changed and we will be looking at Kings and Queens for this half term. English will focus on instructions and Maths for this week will be length and measure. Please find below the planning and resources for this week.

Spring 2 - Week 1 Planning and Timetable

Spring 2 - Week 1 Resources

Please don't forget that you can submit any of the art work that you have done at home to The Royal Academy of Arts summer show.

I'm sure there will be things you have created that you are very proud of. My niece Darcey enjoys art and she created this last week and she is very proud of her most recent work. Here it is below:

Remember that you can submit any art work, even when it is not the work that we have set for you!

Can you create something you would like to submit?!

See you all on Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon on Teams!

Hello Pear Tree Class,

This week is the last week of our superhero topic and now we deserve a little rest. I hope that you are all looking forward to relaxing next week, doing lots of playing and things that you find fun and interesting.

I know that lots of you have been enjoying the art work over the last few weeks and we have now signed up to a very exciting online art exhibition this year called the Young Artists’ Summer Show (thanks to one of our lovely Pear Tree parents for bringing it to our attention) which is run by the Royal Academy of Arts. We would like as many of you as possible to get involved and submit your work!

We want to see art that shows your personality, imagination, thoughts and feelings. There are no rules you can use any art materials you like. You could paint, sketch or even sculpt!

Art is about expressing yourself and anyone can be an artist. If you are not sure if you can be an artist watch THE DOT - Vashti thinks she cant draw but she can and so can you!

If you're thinking about creating something for the exhibition but aren't sure how to get started, why not set aside some time this half-term to get your creative juices flowing? All great art starts somewhere! For more information about the exhibition and ideas about how to get started please visit https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/information/curriculum/art-dt/royal-academy-of-arts-young-artists-summer-show

I have now updated the photos on our webpage (I promise that I have!) Click here to see Home Learning Photos. It has lots of photos from your recent work at home and our work in school. I have also included some of the extra things you have been doing like fabulous lego models and even sewing!

I'm so proud of you all for working so hard and I miss you all a lot.

Have a great half term break. Make sure you rest and play and most of all, be good!

Hello parents.

I would just like to say a massive THANK YOU to Pear Tree Families this week. It has not been easy for any of us this last few weeks but I am so very grateful for your support and the fantastic work you are doing with your children. I am encouraged by receiving your emails and by the fact that so many parents are working hard with their children, despite limited time themselves, to ensure that they are enjoying learning at home. Next week is Children's Mental Health Week and it could not be more appropriate for our children and families to take care of their own mental health. If you haven't seen this BBC clip please take a look. We are all doing our best and it really is good enough. Please take care of yourselves too!

We are now aware that Big Cat Collins have now made their reading books free to use online. If you have exhausted the Oxford Owl webpage then please have a look at this link Collins Connect – Big Cat books and log in as a teacher.

I hope that you are all ok. We really are missing you so much! Keep working hard and being really good for your adults please.

Following on from our Catch Up and Story session, can you make any predictions about our new story chapter book pictured above?

You can send me any of your predictions. I am excited to see them!
