Final Update and goodbye 23.07.21

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello Pear Tree Class (for the very last time!)

I am not going to write a long message today as I think we have said most of it all.

I would like to say thank you to Miss Peacock and Miss Birks for being wonderful teaching assistants and for always going the extra mile for me and the children.

I would also like to thank the parents who have been so supportive this year. You have adapted to homeschooling during lockdown, homework and reading at the weekend and evenings, and even isolation homeschooling for the final week of term! You have all been kind and understanding through all the bumps we have seen this year, so thank you!

Finally and most importantly, thank you to all the children in Pear Tree Class 2020 - 2021. You have been resilient, funny, friendly, happy, and enthusiastic learners. I actually cannot explain how much I have enjoyed being your teacher this year. I could not have asked for a better group of children to finish my time at Rufford Park Primary School with.

Pop over to our photo page to see our final week's pictures. I have had so many pictures of work and children sent to me that it has made this last week seem educational and incredibly fun-filled. I have just uploaded my favourite below:

Please see attached a summer reading challenge. If you have a sibling in school, then your form will have gone home with them. Averyone else can either download and print it, collect from school today or on Monday (I will be in school) or complete online and upload to Pear Tree Teams. There will be an assignment on there. If you are able to pop by school please can you drop off your bookbags.

I hope that you enjoyed the virtual party this afternoon. For any bits that didn't work, you will be able to see this on Teams.

I will be in school on Monday from 9.30 until about 1 or 2pm if anyone wants to drop in and say goodbye. Just come to the classroom door, It would be great to see you in person.

Good luck in Year 2. Have a lovely summer and always be your best selves!

Love from Mrs (Vicki) Connolly

Weekly Update - 16.07.21

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much to everyone who came to our catch-up and socks or no socks game this morning. I hope you have all been able to access the assignment for today on teams.

Over this weekend and next week, I will make sure that there are some recorded stories, games, and other things that the children can access on teams. I will also have a meeting with the children every day at 9.30am from Monday right through to Friday. I will publish a timetable on teams as soon as I can. I know that it is the last week but since we are in isolation, let's make the most of it and meet up as much as we can!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the cards and gifts you have made or sent to me, Miss Peacock and Miss Birks. We will have a look at these and contact you just as soon as we can.

There will be another blog post next Friday for the final week. As I will be unable to take any pictures of the children this week, I would just love it if you could send any photos of yourselves or your pets enjoying what we can of our isolation. I can then publish these on the blog photo page next week. You can email them to me at pear@ruffordparkprimary.org.uk or I will (try) to put something on teams so you can upload them on there. I'll start you off with my cat having a long snooze in the garden. Also, don't forget to look on our photo page for pictures from this week.

Have a good weekend. I will see you (virtually) on Monday.

Closure update - 15.07.21

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello everyone,

I am so very sad to be writing this from home as our bubble has closed. It was really sad for me to have to say goodbye to the children so quickly and in such a difficult situation, but I was incredibly proud of them and how well they coped (much better than me!).

I will be on teams at 11am tomorrow (Friday 16th) so that we can all say hello and have a quick chat. I will also be providing things that the children can do at home. I appreciate that it is the last week of term so I will try my very best to make any work fun and interesting.

I will also do another blog post tomorrow (Friday 16th) in the afternoon with details of any meetings for next week. These are likely to be around 9.30 every morning. I will also upload the pictures that we managed to take from our shorts and shades morning.

In the meantime, please continue to contact me on the pear@ruffordparkprimary.org.uk email address if there is anything you need to talk about.

I am sending everyone a big smile and a virtual hug.

I will hopefully see you tomorrow.

Weekly Update - 09.07.21

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

This week has been a busy one. In between all of our lovely learning and fun activities, we have also:

  • performed our superhero song to the Reception class
  • taken part in sports day
  • had a transition meeting with the new teacher

The children have just finished their wonderful Lighthouse Keepers's Lunch stories and we will be sending these home next week.

In maths we have continued with our learning about money and we have been making amounts and counting amounts.

I hope you have a wonderful week and please do take a look at our photo page to see us in action.

SUPERHEROES UNITE!

Mrs Connolly (v.connolly) on: Pear Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

When we were asked to sing a song for another class in a music assembly, there was really only one song we could choose.

Superheroes Unite has been the Pear Tree Class anthem this year. We sang and danced to it before lockdown, during lockdown (over video calls) and we have continued to love this song after lockdown too!

In our opinion, the children are all superheroes. They have coped incredibly well with all of the changes in their school lives since they started Reception class last year. We are immensely proud of them and we hope you enjoy our performance, which can be viewed on the Pear Tree Photos page.
