Weekly Update 19.3.21

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog 2020/2021

Hi everyone,

We are quickly getting back into our normal routine. The last group completed Bikeability on Monday and the instructors commented on the great behaviour of all the children in Year 6. Everyone has enjoyed developing the skills to cycle safely on the roads.

In class, we have enjoyed learning more about the Ancient Maya by watching a virtual presentation by a Maya archaeologist. We would usually be able to invite her into school where she would present her work and show some ancient artefacts but this is not possible at the current time. The presentation was very interesting and we all learnt something new about the Maya.

In maths, our focus has been on learning about area and perimeter; calculating the area and perimeter of rectilinear shapes and the area of triangles.

We will continue working hard next week and will be completing our postcard writing in the role of an ancient Maya archaeologist.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs Trotter

Weekly Update 12.3.21

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog 2020/2021

Hi Maple Tree Class,

It has been lovely to welcome everyone back in school this week. We have had a busy week as you have all had the opportunity to improve your cycling skills by taking part in Bikeability. It has been pleasing to hear about your great behaviour and how well you have listened throughout your cycle training.

In class, we have been working hard on our maths and English skills. It is great to see how home learning has enabled the transition back to class learning to go smoothly.

After a hectic week I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Trotter

**** Art Exhibition Information ****

At Rufford Park we have signed up to a very exciting online art exhibition this year called the Young Artists’ Summer Show which is run by the Royal Academy of Arts. We would like as many of you as possible to get involved and submit your work!

The Young Artists' Summer Show love seeing your personality, imagination, thoughts and feelings shine through your artwork. You could paint, sketch or even sculpt!

If you're thinking about creating something for the exhibition but aren't sure how to get started, why not set aside some time this half-term to get your creative juices flowing? All great art starts somewhere!
