Weekly Update 1.4.22

Hello!

We can't believe we have completed another half term already! Although it has only been short, this half term has been very busy and very productive!

We enjoyed finishing our class guided reading book, King of the Cloud Forests, this week.

We are running an exciting competition over the Easter holidays which we would like as many children across school as possible to get involved with. All children received a poster today with all the details and some examples for inspiration on.

The competition is “Book in a Box”! To enter you need to find an old cereal/shoe/parcel box and decorate it with all the characters and scenery from your favourite book/story.

Please include the name of the book or story you have chosen in your design and make sure your name AND class are written clearly on the back of your entry.

Entries must be in school by Friday 22nd April at the latest.

All entries will be displayed in the hall for you to vote for your winners during the book fair which is in school from Monday 25th April – Thursday 28th April.

There will be 4 categories to vote for and 4 winners across school:

Nursery and Reception
KS1 (Year 1 and 2)
Lower KS2 (Year 3 and 4)
Upper KS2 (Year 5 and 6)

Winners will receive a voucher to spend at the book fair so enter now to be in with a chance of winning yourself a new, FREE book!!!!!

I hope you have a lovely Easter break and come back feeling refreshed!

Miss Bairstow :)

Weekly Update 25.3.22

Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Ash Tree Class Blog

Hello!

This week we have had an assessment week across school and Ash Tree have worked incredibly hard and shown how much they have learnt since September. I am very proud of their attitudes to learning this week and how they have approached these tasks.

Several children in Ash represented the school at a football game on Tuesday evening. Please check the "Sports News" section of the website if you would like to know more about this. If your child has played in a football game recently please make sure the kit is washed and returned to school ASAP even if your child is due to play again. All kits need to be stored centrally in school between matches so that in the event of absence we can ensure we have one for each player.

Last Friday, some children from Ash and Maple were selected as responsible, "Rufford Park learner" helpers to assist LKS2 Eco Club plant over 100 hedgerow whips to develop a wildlife area on the lower field. The hedges and trees have been provided by Trees for Schools as part of the Queen's Green Canopy (QGC), a tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee in 2022. The children were fantastic representatives for UKS2 and received many compliments about their exemplary behaviour and helpful attitudes.

**YEAR 6 RESIDENTIAL**

Our Year 6 residential to Peat Rigg is fast approaching and we have added a PowerPoint presentation with further details about Peat Rigg to the "INFORMATION FOR PARENTS" section on both the Ash and Maple webpages. We will continue to update this section with additional relevant information over the coming weeks. We will also be holding a meeting in school on Monday 28th March 3:30 - 4:00 to give you the opportunity to find out a little more and ask any questions you may have.

Have a great weekend.

Hi,

This week in English we published our newspaper reports. Ash really enjoyed being reporters over the last few weeks and created some super pieces of work.

In maths, my group completed their unit on fractions and will be moving on to decimals and percentages next week. The children have made excellent progress during our work on fractions this term and seem much more confident. I've been really impressed with their resilient approach to problem solving this week too! Mrs Trotter and Mrs Senior's groups have been focusing on angles this week.
