Weekly Update 06.01.23

Miss Cotterill (e.cotterill) on: Lime Tree Class Blog

Hello!

Welcome back and a belated Happy New Year to you all!

The children have made a fantastic start to 2023 - every single one of them has come back to school with a super attitude and have been ready to get stuck in with all learning.

Our new topic this half term is all about Superheroes. We have been looking at real life heroes such as doctors, firefighters and charity workers and comparing them with fictional superheroes.

Our new topic has also influenced our English this week as we have been writing character descriptions about Elastigirl from The Incredibles family.

In Maths, Year 1 have continued with their numbers and bonds to 20. Year 2 have been consolidating various addition and subtraction methods before we progress on to multiplication and division next week.

The 'Aslan Reading Challenge' will continue this term. Your continued support in listening to your child read at home, at least 3 times a week, is really needed and much appreciated.  Please remember little and often is the key

Have a lovely weekend.

Hello!

I have been off most of the week, so it has been a little choppy for the children but they have coped really well and enjoyed having lots of different visitors in the classroom.

I was very happy to be back in time for Thursday's Christmas Performance. The children were AMAZING!! Thank you for all the lovely feedback. The children really have done the school proud.

With only one week to go until the Christmas holidays we have made our cards today, ready to be sent home next week.

Just a little reminder that we will be having our class Christmas party on Tuesday 13th. Thank you to all who have made a contribution!

Have a lovely weekend.

Weekly Update 02.12.22

Hello!

What a lovely week we have had in Lime Tree Class.

On Tuesday the children had a special visit from Florence Nightingale. She took us on a journey all the way back to Scutari Hospital in 1854. The children had lots of work to do as Nurses and Porters. We also got the chance o look after an injured soldier who had been in the Crimean War. We learnt lots about Florence's life and got to ask her lots of questions.

Christmas arrived in our classroom on Thursday. Our tree is full of the beautiful decorations made by the children on Wednesday and doesn't it look great!

With less than a week to go until our Christmas Performance, we have been practising every day. I know lots of you have also been putting in the time at home too which is really appreciated!

Have a great weekend.

Weekly Update 25.11.22

Miss Cotterill (e.cotterill) on: Lime Tree Class Blog

Hello!

Another week gone in a flash. With only 2 weeks to go until our Christmas performance the children have been rehearsing nearly everyday. On Monday all KS1 children were given their parts and lines, so any additional practice at home would be really appreciated!

In English we have continued with our recount writing as Florence Nightingale but in postcard form. I say this every week but I cannot believe the quality of some of the writing in our class, it is amazing!!

In Maths Year 1 have moved on to numbers to 20 and trying to really consolidate the teen numbers. In Year 2 the children have been adding two 2-digit numbers together with the practical support of base 10 and the partitioning method.

We have finished our week off with a world cup/sports themed non-uniform day and we are this weeks 'Aslan Reading Challenge' winners!

Have a lovely weekend.
