Another very busy week in Cherry Tree Class!
We have continued using our story 'Mama Panya's Pancakes' to inspire our writing. We have been looking at 'Diamante' poems and writing our own. The children have worked with partners to do this and done a great job. We will continue with poetry next week.
In maths we have been looking at different ways of partitioning 2 and some 3 digit numbers. The children have been trying to work systematically to find the different combinations.
The highlight of the week has been today's 'Make the Rules Day'. There have been lots of colouful hair styles and teddies in school today.
Reminder that next Wednesday is our Yorkshire Wildlife Park Trip.
It looks the the sun is making a reappearance this weekend. Enjoy!

Another week of exciting sporting events. This week Year 2 all took part in the Skipping Festival at Leeds Trinity University. The morning was filled with competitive and fun skipping. We came away with a few Gold, Silver and Bronze Certificates and all the children got a certificate for taking part.
This week we have continued with our story 'Mama Panya's Pancake'. The children have been writing thank you notes to Mama Panya.
In maths we have been doing some end of year assessments. The children have all tried very hard and listened carfefully.
In Art the children have finished their pieces for the Art Exhibtion later this month. They have all produced some beautiful pieces.
Have a lovely weekend and fingers crossed for a return of the sunshine!

Well what a busy start to the last half term of this school year.
The children have all come back to school with a really positive attitude and lots of stories about their sunny half term holidays.
Our topic this half term is a continuation from last half term. This week we looked at Urban and Rural Kenya and talked about some of the Physical and Human Features we might find.
In English we have started a new story called 'Mama Panya's Pancakes'. This story is set in a Rual Kenyan Village. The children have been planning and writing an invitation to a friend to come to share pancakes with Mama Panya.
In maths we have been looking at 'reasoning' questions involving number. We have also been reminding ourselves of the best strategies to use when working out our answers.
The highlight of the week has been Sports Day. I was very impressed with the children's attitude and resilience especially given the rather wet conditions.
Next week we have another exciting sporting event with our Skipping Festival. You should have all recieved an email with details about this event.
Enjoy your weekend. Let's hope the sun decides to come out again soon.
