Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Ash Tree Class Blog

Hi,

A busy first week of the final half term.

Despite the changeable weather conditions Sports' Day went ahead as planned. The children coped well with the soggy conditions and enjoyed the afternoon. The overall House winner will be announced in assembly on Friday.

In class, the children completed their leaflet writing and are now preparing to write a Greek myth. They will be supported with this by a drama workshop next week. In maths, Year 5 are working on perimeter and Year 6 are preparing for the 'Grow a £5' challenge. The first Market Day Event is on Monday 8th June, after school in the hall.

UKS2 also received an important Fire Safety Talk on Thursday. Please take some time to look at their website. West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

A reminder for Year 6 parents/carers to complete the registration for Bikeability. This is done online  using the Bikeability Consent Letter 2026 (1).docx

Registration needs to be completed by Friday 12th June.

Have a nice weekend

Mrs Trotter

Weekly Update 15.5.26

Hello,

A huge well done to the children in Year Six! Everyone completed their SATs this week with both a positive and mature attitude. The children have enjoyed a more relaxed end to the week and we have a number of lovely activities/events planned in the weeks ahead.

Also, a big thank you to all of the staff who have supported the children through this process and helped this week by providing breakfast each morning. It created a calm and purposeful atmosphere.

The children in Year 5 Ash relocated to the Community Room for their learning this week. They have been praised for their excellent behaviour and attitude.

Year six children will be taking two letters home today regarding 'Grow a £5' and Bikeabilty. The parental consent form for Grow a £5 needs to be returned by Monday 18th May so that the children can prepare for their first Market Day event on Monday 8th June.

Parents also need to complete the relevant details on Bikeability through scanning the QR code that is on the letter.

Bikeability Letter and QR Code

Year 6 have been presented with their Leavers' Hoodies in Friday assembly today. This event has been much anticipated! The children can wear these hoodies on PE Days for the time being. The teaching staff will advise the children when they can be worn on additional days.

A busy time in Ash Tree Class, now for a relaxing weekend!

Weekly Update 8.5.26

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Ash Tree Class Blog

Hi,

A shorter but very busy week!

Next week, Year 6 will sit their SATs (Statutory Assessment Tests). It is extremely important that all Year 6 children arrive at school on time. Breakfast Club is available to all Year 6 children in the hall from 8:30am. The children have worked hard to prepare for next week. A good night's sleep before each day is the final ingredient required.

Year 5 Ash will be relocated to the Community Room whilst the assessment week takes place, however the children will arrive and leave by the normal doors. In a slight change to their timetable, the children will be doing PE on Monday.

Year 5 have enjoyed time with the reception class children today with an Attenbear Picnic to commemorate the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Trotter

Hi,

A beautiful sunny week!

Year 5 enjoyed a visit to Yeadon Tarn this week. The trip is linked to our English unit on persuasive writing. These leaflets will be shared with the children in Year 2 to persuade them to visit the Tarn. The children in Year 6 will be writing a persuasive leaflet using their experience of the residential trip to Peat Rigg.

Year 6 are busy preparing for SATs week (11th - 14th May). Just a reminder that Breakfast Club for Year 6 will be available to all in Year 6 on SATs week; children should arrive at 8:30 and come straight to the hall.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend!
