Willow Tree Home Learning-18/1/21

Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Willow Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Good afternoon Willow Tree Class and families,

It was so lovely to see you all yesterday during our live Teams meeting, you all made me smile a lot and I was so impressed with everyone's behaviour, well done :)

I hope you all had a good week and that you have been able to get on well with your home learning. Next week's timetable and resources are linked below. Try to follow it as best as you can, though the afternoons are more flexible.

Year 3 Willow Planning and Resources

You should have all of the relevant usernames and passwords in your reading records and packs. If you are missing any of these or need advice on how to access anything please let me know via email.

I can see some of you have already logged onto Teams - well done! I encourage all of you to have a go this weekend if you haven't done already. I will be leaving messages, tasks and feedback from your work on here so it's important that you can access this. If you are still unsure on how to access Teams, click here to watch Miss Tidey's guide.

I will still be giving out merits so remember to work hard and hand your work in!

READING CHALLENGE!

I've also got a reading challenge for you. I'm challenging you to take a video or picture of yourselves reading next to a snowman that you've built. I'd love to see what you come up with, but you'll have to be quick before all the snow has gone. Good luck!

We have set up a class email contact so that you can send me pictures of work or ask any questions you have. Please send these emails to willow@ruffordparkprimary.org.uk

Take care, keep smiling and stay positive!

Mr Kyriacou :)

Weekly Update 18.12.20

Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Willow Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

This week, in Science, the children completed their EGGsperiment which involved them investigating which liquids cause the most damage to teeth, specifically focusing on the enamel. They left eggs in vinegar, milk, orange juice and coke for two days and then as a class we removed the eggs and discussed what had happened to each egg, specifically focusing on the shells, which represented the enamel. They wrote their results and and explained what they had found out from their investigation. It was EGGcellent!

The children also completed their fantastic Roman helmets and they posed as fierce soldiers, ready to march into battle.

We also had our Christmas party this week, we played lots of fun games, did lots of singing and dancing and we also ate lots of delicious food :)

Weekly Update 11.12.20

This week the children have written their information texts about the Romans in Britain and they have presented them in the form of a booklet. They have worked really hard on them and the final pieces are packed with information and look fantastic.

In Maths, we have continued our work with Multiplication and Division, with the focus moving towards 3 and 4x tables now.

We are on the exciting final chapter of The Iron Man and the children are eager to find out what happens at the end. The children have also produced some lovely art work related to the book, which were created using a combination of chalk and oil pastels.

Weekly Update 04.12.20

This week we have have focused on response lessons based around common mistakes found within the children's non chronological reports. Homophones have been a focus, as well as the use of was and were.

In Maths, we have continued to focus on Multiplication, whilst also introducing elements of Division and focusing on the relationship between the two operations. The development of the children's knowledge and their use of the correct mathematical vocabulary has been fantastic. We have been working on the 2, 5 and 10x tables.

We have continued read our brilliant class novel, The Iron Man. We have just finished reading chapter 4 and are eager to read the fifth and final chapter.

In P.E the children have been creating their own dance routines, which have also incorporated elements of their gymnastic skills. Here is a wonderful video showing off their outstanding team work to create a completely original routine.
