Weekly Update 15th May
Posted: May 13, 2026 by: K Atkinson (k.atkinson) on: Lime Tree Class Blog
Another week has flown by!
In maths Year 1 have been using the bar model to solve addition and subtraction calculations. We first used cubes to represent the calculations before recording our work in maths books. Year 2 have been working hard to recap all the different arithmetic strategies we have taught over the year. We have also taken a look at how to apply this knowledge to solve some reasoning problems.
We have begun planning our own version of ‘Lila and the Secret of Rain’ which we will enjoy writing next week.
In art, the children learnt about sculptor Eva Rothschild and used spaghetti and marshmallows to create their own geometric sculpture. The children then named their sculpture and showed it to their friends.
In geography we continued to learn about Africa. The children used the atlases to locate different countries in Africa.
Enjoy the weekend and let’s hope it warms up a bit next week!
