Weekly Update 8.5.26
Posted: May 8, 2026 by: K Atkinson (k.atkinson) on: Lime Tree Class Blog
We have begun reading 'Lila and the Secret of Rain' in English. On Tuesday we predicted what we thought would happen in the story and on Wednesday we wrote sentences using key vocabulary with the story. Today we wrote a thought bubble to explore how Lila was feeling at different parts of the story.
In maths Year 1 and Year 2 have both explored how to solve missing number addition and subtraction calculations.
A highlight of the week was art. The children worked in small groups or independently to create a family of sculptures inspired by the work of sculptor Barbara Hepworth. We then took our sculptures onto the playground to create our own outdoor sculpture park.
We have also continued learning how to use Scratch Jr in computing to programme a quiz on the iPads, which the children have been hugely enjoying.
Today was Mr Turner's last day of his teaching placement so we had a special class assembly to say goodbye to him and the children also created a good luck card for Mr Turner for when he gets his first teaching job.
Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you again on Monday!
