Weekly Update 27.2.26

The first week back has flown by (how is it nearly the end of February?!)
In English the children have enjoyed listening to our new class text "The Smartest Giant in Town" by Julia Donaldson. They have worked to create some sentences describing George, with Year 2 looking to put commas between their adjectives when writing an expanded noun phrase.
In maths we have begun looking at fractions. Both year groups have learnt what 'half' means and have begun to fluently recall half of a number.
We have worked hard in DT and have used our designs from last week to create a moving picture to show one of the scenes from Cinderella. The children worked hard to make their own sliders, levers and wheels and the quality of work was very high. We will be finishing off our work next week.
In computing we have started using the app 'Scratch Jr' to begin to understand how to write a programme. The children enjoyed using the blue 'movement' blocks to programme the cat to move in different ways.
