Happy New Year!
The children have had a fantastic first week back at school; I have been very impressed with how much they have remembered from before the holidays and how sensibly they have returned to school.
Year 2 have looked at subtracting a two-digit number from a two-digit number using exchanging whilst Year 1 have recapped how to use the part whole model to add and subtract. We have also started looking at our new classroom text "Cinderella" and the children enjoyed writing sentences using key vocabulary from the story.
In PE we have begun a gymnastics unit and have learnt some new balances and rolls. We have also spoken about seasonal changes in science and we created a pictograph to show how the days are shorter in the winter months compared to the summer months.
We are still going to be doing PE on a Thursday but our Wednesday PE lesson has changed to Monday. Our PE days for this term are now Monday and Thursday.
