Weekly Update 12.9.25

Posted: Sep 9, 2025 by: K Atkinson (k.atkinson) on: Lime Tree Class Blog

Another week has flown by. The children have amazed me with how well they have all settled and how well they are following our new classroom routines; well done Lime Tree Class!

In maths, Year 1 have continued learning about numbers within 10. The children have learnt to represent numbers to 10 in different ways and are beginning to recognise numbers as words as well as numerals and pictures. Year 2 have continued learning about place value in two digit numbers and have explored representing these numbers using a place value chart.

In English we started reading 'Katie in London'. The children made predictions about the plot of the story, using the front cover and blurb. Year 2 then did some work on using the dictionaries and sorting words alphabetically whilst Year 1 completed a word hunt around the classroom. The children wrote then their own description of one of the characters from the book and read their work aloud to their peers.

We have also started exploring different pencil techniques as part of an introduction to art and the children experimented with blending different colours with varying degrees of pressure.

In PSHE we completed one of our 'MindMate' lessons and name different feelings and sorted these into 'comfortable' and 'uncomfortable' feelings.

It was lovely to meet you at the 'Meet the Teacher' event after school on Wednesday and put some names to faces.

Enjoy the weekend and I will see you again on Monday.
