Weekly Update 13.10.23

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hello,

Maple Tree Class have had a productive time completing their Victorian school child diaries this week. They are fantastic and will be on display in the classroom and school corridor so parents will be able to see them during parents' evening next week.

The children enjoyed a sunny afternoon of hockey on Thursday. Their skills have improved and they managed to play several games.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Weekly Update 6.10.23

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hi,

In Maple Tree Class this week, we have been working hard on our diary writing using the school room experience from our Armley Mills Trip. The children have enjoyed getting into the character of a Victorian school child and writing about their thoughts and feelings about their day in the strict and regimented environment. I am hoping to share some examples of their fantastic writing next week. We are continuing to read our class novel 'Street Child'. The children have become extremely competent at 'borrowing' words and phrases to use in their own writing.

In maths, there has been a focus on looking at efficient methods of multiplication and applying these to a range of problems.

Cardboard tubes for our forthcoming Design and Technology project are beginning to arrive. Please could we continue to have any spare kitchen towel or wrapping paper tubes.

The weather is forecast to be warm this weekend so hopefully you will be able to enjoy some autumnal sunshine.

Weekly Update 29.9.23

Mrs Trotter (l.trotter) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hi everyone,

A fantastic topic focused week. We were looking forward to the local history trip to Armley Mills and our visit certainly did not disappoint. Everyone enjoyed being transported to the Victorian era in the roles of a Victorian school child and mill worker. The children learned what it was like to learn in a Victorian classroom and the extremely difficult life of a child working in the mills. We will be using this experience to inspire our writing next week. I'll let some photos of the day tell the whole story...

As part of our forthcoming design and technology on structures, we are collecting cardboard tubes (kitchen roll or wrapping paper). If you have any at home please could children bring them into school over the next few weeks. Thank you

Enjoy the weekend

Mrs Trotter
