Hello!
Ash Tree class have been busy this week completing their DT project "Automata Animals". Our design brief was to create a collection of moving animal models to captivate people's interest and raise awareness of endangered rainforest animals. The children worked in pairs throughout our two DT build days and demonstrated amazing teamwork during this challenging project!
You can see a full gallery of our finished products here: https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/classes/year5-6ash/automata-animals-2025-ash-tree
This morning we also took part in an orienteering session and learnt lots about mapwork and had to utilise our teamwork skills again! Some children also went to a Triathalon event today with Mr Spence and Mrs Senior.
This has been a very short but very VERY busy half term... we can't believe when we come back we will be entering our final half term of the year!
Have a great break and see you soon :)

Hello,

We would like to start with a big well done to all of our Year 6 children this week who have completed their SATs! Woohooooo! They really have been fantastic and approached this important primary school milestone with sensible and mature attitudes.

I haven't seen much of the Year 5 children in Ash Tree this week as they have been taught by other adults in school whilst SATs were underway but all reports from whoever taught them have been fantastically positive too!

Have a lovely weekend and well deserved rest!

See you next week for the last week of the half term! Eek!

Miss Bairstow :)

Hello,

We have had a very busy week as Year 6 have completed their final preparation for SATs next week! Please make sure your child arrives before 8.30 to SATs breakfast club next week if they are wanting to eat.

Y5 have been writing some excellent postcards from the perspective of a Maya archaeologist - just like Dr Dianne who visited us before Easter! Have a look below at some of their fantastic work. They really enjoyed creating their own designs for the front of their postcards!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!

Weekly Update - 2.5.25

Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Maple Tree Class Blog

Hello,

This week in Ash Tree the Y6's main focus has been revising everything they have already been taught this year and getting in some extra SATs practise!

Y5 have been working on their own exciting tasks, such as writing postcards from the perspective of a Maya archaeologist, a visit to Yeadon Tarn in preparation for writing their persuasive leaflets and learning about perimeter and area in maths!

Just a reminder our P.E days have changed back to their original Monday and Tuesday this half term. Please make sure your child only wears P.E kit on these two days.

The letter for Y6 Leavers' Hoodies went out this week. Most have already been returned which is amazing but just a reminder the deadline for this is next Friday (9th May).

Have a lovely long weekend!

Miss Bairstow :)

Hello and welcome back!

We have had a great first week of SUMMER term! Eek how scary!

A full gallery of photos from our residential before the Easter holidays can now be found here.

We have enjoyed writing thank you letters this week, learning about perimeter in maths, some SATs revision and introducing our new topics and guided reading text, Darwin's Dragons.

The Scholastic book fair has also been in school this week - thank you to everyone who has supported us with this event. Every book we sell helps us earn rewards to spend directly with Scholastic on new books for school so it is greatly appreciated. The fair is open again after school tonight and on Monday too.

Have a lovely weekend!

Miss Bairstow
