Weekly Update-3/3/23

Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Beech Tree Blog

Hello everyone,

This week, we have continued to read our mystery novel (Kidnap in the Caribbean) and the children are really enjoying it. We've also been focusing on our different reading skills when focusing on our comprehension work.

The children have also been working hard on their World Book Day t-shirts and we did a range of fun book themed activities on Thursday.

In science, we have been continuing our work on electricity. the children have been learning about the renewable and non-renewable ways that electricity is generated, as well as grouping items that require mains power and grouping items that require battery power.

In ICT, as part of our online safety topic, we were focusing on digital advertisements, where they appear on different websites, what advertisements appear, how do they catch your eyes and understanding what the purpose of advertisements are.

Take care,

Mr Kyriacou :)

Weekly Update-24/2/23

Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Beech Tree Blog

Hello everyone,

This week, we have started reading our new class novel, which is called Kidnap in the Caribbean by Lauren St John, and it is part of her Laura Marlin mystery series.

In maths, we have been focusing on division with remainders using the bus stop method and doing the inverse by using short multiplication to check our answers. I've even really impressed with how much effort the children have been putting in to be able to use the method effectively and be able to check their answers by using the inverse.

The children have also started to work on their World Book Day shirt designs.

Take care,

Mr Kyriacou :)

Weekly Update-10/2/23

Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Beech Tree Blog

Hello everyone,

This week, the children have been focusing on using short multiplication. It's so wonderful to see how much they've progressed with their times tables and seeing it applied when using the short multiplication method.

We have also completed our unit of work on persuasive writing, which eventually led to the children creating their onw persuasive leaflet about online safety.

As part of our topic lesson on earthquakes and tsunamis, the children created a safety poster about what you should and shouldn't do.

Continuing with the theme of online safety, the children have also created some lovely posters to raise awareness about it.

The children have also finished painting their model volcanoes and have erupted them this week, it was a lot of fun!

I hope you all have a lovely rest and I'll see you all after the half term break,

Take care,

Mr Kyriacou
