It has been another very warm week in the Cherry Tree Classroom! The children have not let the heat stop them from having another fantastic week of learning.
We have continued our work using the story 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch'. The children have thought about how the seagulls felt and have written some letters of apology as the seagulls to one of the other characters. We have really been focusing on spellings this week and spending lots of time practising our 'common exception' words (those words we should be able to spell by the end of Key Stage One).
In maths we have been focusing on reasoning problems. We have solved problems about charts, tables, time, using scales and a whole assortment of number related ones.
In PE we have continued to work with our Sports Coach on football skills. We have also been working on our skipping skills following Jodie (the skipping coach) videos.
We have finished the week off with some Lighthouse Keeper linked art. The children enjoyed using paints and sketching techniques to create their master pieces.
Congratulations to Toms who was the winner of the Compost Bin Design Competition organised by Mrs Hanna. His design will be used for the Key Stage One playground compost bin.
Enjoy your weekend.
