Weekly Update - 19.03.21

Miss Johansson (L.Johansson) on: Oak Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello,

It’s been another busy week in Year 5 Oak and I am really pleased with how well the children have settled back in.

In maths, we have been completing further fraction work, revising some key skills and using formal methods. In English, the children have been planning and writing postcards, from the perspective on an ancient Maya archaeologist. They have really enjoyed getting into character and imagining they are discovering ancient Maya artefacts.

Overall, it has been great to see how home learning has enabled the transition back into class learning to go smoothly.

Have a great weekend.

Miss Johansson

Hello,

Well, it's been a fabulous week in Oak Tree class and so wonderful to welcome all the children back. The children have been extremely busy getting settled back in and focussing on their learning.

We have been thinking about key skills and non-negotiables in English and the children have had lots of chance to brush up on their handwriting and presentation in their books, in preparation for next week's work. In maths, we have continued our fraction work and have been multiplying whole numbers by mixed numbers!

On Wednesday, we began our new football focus in P.E and the children really enjoyed practising and developing their dribbling and passing skills - click here to see! We've also been exploring qualities of friendships, in PSHE, and the children enjoyed playing a game of charades; they acted out different qualities and the rest of the class had to work out what quality it was and whether it was a good friendship quality or not. Click here to see them in action!

Stay safe!

**** Art Exhibition Information ****

At Rufford Park we have signed up to a very exciting online art exhibition this year called the Young Artists’ Summer Show which is run by the Royal Academy of Arts. We would like as many of you as possible to get involved and submit your work!

The Young Artists' Summer Show love seeing your personality, imagination, thoughts and feelings shine through your artwork. They believe art is about expressing yourself in a way that comes naturally to you. There are no rules, your submission can be created using any art materials you like. You could paint, sketch or even sculpt!

If you're thinking about creating something for the exhibition but aren't sure how to get started, why not set aside some time this half-term to get your creative juices flowing? All great art starts somewhere! For more information about the exhibition and ideas about how to get started please visit https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/information/curriculum/art-dt/royal-academy-of-arts-young-artists-summer-show
