A special well done to these children!

We have all really enjoyed listening to ‘world instrumental’ music at the start of our day. It’s been very calm each day. Ladysmith Black Mambazo went down well on Tuesday morning!

We have completed our original song compositions in Music/Ukuleles and we are now polishing up a few of them, as well as practising the songs we have learned this year with Mr Jennings, ready for the Y5 Ukulele Gig on 26th June.

In Maths, we are really enjoying a Y5 unit on angles. I have been so impressed with how well the children have dealt with this new (quite abstract) concept. Work starts on protractors next week…wish us luck!

The highlight of our week has to have been our Ancient Greek Day on Thursday. Photos have been put on the school Facebook page, demonstrating the fun the children all had in learning about the traditions of drama in Ancient Greece, as well as fabulous food tasting session in the afternoon. It was great to see children taking risks and trying food stuffs they had never eaten before (particularly olives, feta cheese, hummus and pomegranate).

Homework this weekend is Spellings and a Maths sheet, too.

I have also spoken to children in Year 5 about the opportunity to take part in a competition to become the next Leeds Children's Mayor.

Leeds Children's Mayor Entry Form

This is an optional homework activity that must be completed by Monday 22nd June 2026 if your child wishes to be considered.

I hope you have a lovely weekend

Yours,

Mrs Adrienne Amos
