Hello,
What a busy final week to a very, very looooooong Autumn term! We have officially completed the longest term of the academic year and with an 8 and a 7 week half term behind us I think we are all ready for a rest and reset! The children have worked incredibly hard this term and were able to showcase some of their hard work this week with you during their "Very Victorian Christmas" assembly.
We had lots of fun this week completing our "make" section of this term's DT after lots of careful planning and designing. We worked in groups to create some fantastic marble runs and had great fun testing them all out to see which one had the longest run. We awarded points for run time, aesthetics, smoothness of journey and imaginative use of materials.
We also made some beautiful Victorian inspired pin prick Christmas cards this week. We found out that the Victorians were the first to send Christmas cards as we know them now but they were very expensive for ordinary folk, so people often made their own lace effect pin prick cards at home which is exactly what we did!
On top of all of this, we also had UKS2 class parties on Monday afternoon. The children requested a quiet film room in one classroom and board games in another. Their behaviour was excellent and they very much enjoyed the "picky bits" food throughout the afternoon so thank you very much for your donations which enabled us to buy this!
And finally, we would like to say thank you for all the kind gifts we have received. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and enjoy the festive season and will see you in the new year!
Miss Bairstow :)
