Beech Tree Home Learning - 19.4.20

 HOME LEARNING

Week commencing 20.04.20

Hello Beech Tree Class!

I hope you've all had a lovely break over the Easter period and have taken the time to enjoy yourselves, however that may be! Over the holidays I have been enjoying bike rides, gardening, solving puzzles and video calling my new niece (she is very cute and I can't wait to meet her!).

We would be back at school on Monday, so I have been working hard with Mr Bentham and Mr Kyriacou to prepare the following resources for you. We have tried to make it more structured while keeping it easy to access but please let us know if we can do anything else to help.

Year 4 Maths/English planner

Year 4 Comprehension worksheet (linked to Charlotte's Web)

Year 4 Weekly Spellings

Year 4 Research Project on the Ancient Egyptians (to continue for 7 weeks)

Other subjects menu (free choice of activities)

Don’t forget to use the updated daily timetable below to help maintain a routine and not miss anything important – including breaks and physical activity!

NOTES FOR PARENTS AND CARERS:

Feel free to adapt any home learning tasks to suit your child’s ability.

Work can be completed in the home learning exercise books (lined paper = English/other subjects; squared paper = maths; they’ll need to write a date/LO at the top of each page) or directly onto a worksheet if you prefer to print these off. Please check your child is using their best handwriting at all times (joined up, on the line and with correct letter heights), as bad habits can develop quickly and will be difficult to rectify. If your child received a pair of handwriting booklets in their home learning pack, we recommend 5-10 minutes of daily practice.

Maths this week uses the excellent White Rose home learning resources.
YEAR 4 MATHS: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/
Please click on ‘Week 1’ at the top (not Summer Term Week 1 – w/c 20 April) – each lesson includes an introductory video, downloadable worksheets and an answer booklet.

If a maths question cannot be recorded in an exercise book (e.g. ‘complete the diagram’), a child can answer it verbally to a grown-up or older sibling.

For morning reading, children can use their own books from home, or the Oxford Owl e-books accessed at: www.oxfordowl.co.uk/please-log-in?open_loginbox=true
You’ll need to click on the pink ‘My class login’ button, before entering the username and password below – then select your child’s age group.

Any questions, do please get in touch.

Take care!
