Beech Tree Blog 27.11.20

Posted: Nov 26, 2020 by: Mrs. Cahill (n.cahill) on: Beech Tree Class Blog 2020-21

Welcome back to the blog!

It's been another busy week in Beech Tree Class.

Reading - This week's poetry focus has been to look at personification (objects or things taking on human characteristics). The children enjoyed learning about this concept through the poem 'Last Night I Saw the City Breathing'.

Writing - We have been working especially hard to make our non-chronological reports more detailed by using a range of conjunctions, ambitious vocabulary and punctuation. I am incredibly proud of the effort the children have put in to this project as the quality of work has really improved since September! We will be writing these up in neat next week to finally produce a fantastic leaflet all about the Romans.

Maths - We have finished our unit on addition and subtraction with some reasoning. The children worked together to persevere through different puzzles.

Friend of the Day

After some weeks focusing on anti-bullying and kindness, Beech Tree Class are working hard to make sure to spread kindness wherever we go. A way of encouraging positive relationships is through our new 'friend of the day' award where a child will be chosen at random. If they have been a fantastic friend that day they will earn two merits and a certificate. We have had three fantastic friends so far!

Merit certificates

A big 'well done', 'woo-hoo' and 'YAAAAAAAY' to Joseph, Lucas Y, Owen and Tilly who have worked so hard on their learning and behaviour that they received their bronze certificates this week. Keep it up!

Wall of Fame

We have new work on the Wall of Fame this week - can you spot yours?
