Hello everyone,
In our reading, we have been focusing on information texts all about volcanoes and the children are enjoying learning lots of new facts about volcanoes whilst also focusing on a variety of different reading skills required in their comprehension work.
In maths, we have been focusing on out 6, 9x and 7xtables, identifying patterns within specific times tables, looking at how they relate to other times tables and why, practising in a variety of ways to help the children to be able to recall their times tables accurately and quickly and solving problems related to those times tables.
In science, as part of our topic on rocks, soils and fossils, the children conducted an investigation to identify the permeability, the density and the durability of different rocks, as well as categorise them into igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary based on information that they had learnt about the rocks. The children really enjoyed this investigation.
This week, in computing, we have been looking at digital devices and how they work, specifically through input, process and output. The children were tasked with creating their own digital device which has an input section e.g microphone for talking into, process e.g it listens to the joke that someone has spoken into the microphone and finally an output e.g using lights, the device rates the joke by showing green lights for good and red lights for a terrible joke. The children did a great job and came up with some really exciting ideas. Well done!
