Weekly Update-6/2/26

Posted: Feb 6, 2026 by: Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Beech Tree Blog

Hello everyone,

This week, we have continued reading our class novel (The Chocolate Touch) which the children are really enjoying, and in our writing, the children have been writing up their adventure stories which have been inspired by the class novel. The children have really enjoyed writing their stories and showing off a range of exciting features throughout them. They have just finished editing them and they will then publish them at the start of next week.

In maths, we have moved onto our next unit of work revolving around measurement. We have been focusing on measuring in km, m, cm and mm, looking at equivalent lengths in km and m and understanding what perimeter is, measuring the perimeter of different shapes and creating shapes with a set perimeter measurement.

In Computing, the children were focusing on creating their own birthday invitations through creating and editing different templates and layouts and using fonts in different ways to add their information to the invitation. They also learnt how to insert related images as the final touch to their invitations. The children absolutely loved the lesson and created some beautiful pieces. Many of them said that they would love to create them again for their actual birthdays.

In DT, as part of our Great Bread Bake Off unit, the children have created two possible designs for their bread which they will use when they make their bread next week. The children really enjoyed it and are very eager to get to the creating part.

Take care,

Mr Kyriacou
