Weekly Update-4/7/25

Hello everyone,
This week, in our writing, the children have been learning all about limericks, reading a range of them, analysing the features of them and planning their own.
In our reading, we have complete Stig of the Dump, which has been our class novel over the summer term. The children really enjoyed the book and the ending of it created a really enjoyable discussion amongst the class.
In maths, we have been focusing on statistics. The children have been reading and analysing data from pictograms, line graphs and bar charts. They have also collected their own data and recorded it using a bar chart. The children then created a range of questions that they could ask based on the data and got their partners to work out the answers.
In history, we have gone beyond the Bronze Age and into the Iron Age. The children have been researching into how things like weapons, tools and homes continued to change throughout this age with the introduction of iron and what the advantages of using iron were instead of using Bronze.
In science, the children concluded their egg shell enamel experiment to see what the effect of different liquids would be on the shell which acts as the tooth enamel. They were very pleased to see that their predictions were correct with vinegar causing the most damage to the enamel and we discussed in detail as to why that was the case and recorded our findings.
Take care,’
Mr Kyriacou
