Weekly Update 13.1.23

Posted: Jan 13, 2023 by: K Simms (k.simms) on: Willow Tree Class Blog

Hello everyone,

This week we have started our new Art topic of 'Art inspired by volcanoes and fossils' and during this week's lesson, we have learnt all about Jackson Pollock who is a popular abstract artist. We have been inspired by his techniques to look at textures of lava and created a collage using adjectives to describe texture.

In maths, we have been practising multiplying 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers and we have used our understanding of this process to help us with dividing 2-digit numbers by a 1-digit numbers. The children have made huge progress with their maths this year and it has been great to see their increasing confidence!

In PE, we have developed our badminton skills and practised hitting the shuttlecock with increasing accuracy and, in PSHE, we have been looking at how we can keep ourselves safe in the world.

Homework will be sent home tonight and is due in on Wednesday. This week's challenge focuses on multiplication and what the arrays represent. Children should be reading on at least 5 separate days and this should also include answering questions on their understanding of the text.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Simms
