Reception class Spring 2021
Spring 1 - During school closure work was assigned on TEAMS and through Tapestry online learning journal. Our topic was Polar Regions. We looked at melting and freezing. We found out about polar bears and penguins. In Maths we looked at numbers 7, 8, 9. We focused on one more, shape, money and doubling and halving. This half term we covered Phase 3 of Letters and Sounds.
Spring 2 - Our topic is traditional stories. In Literacy we focused on the stories of The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Little Red Riding Hood and The Gingerbread Man. We are re-visiting the phase 3 sounds in phonics. In maths we are looking at the numbers 10-14 and focused on one less, subtraction, shape, doubling and halving. We have also started an excited new programme called 'Squiggle Whilst You Wiggle'. This is a movement scheme where children learn a sequence of moves in a dance and then draw the dance. This helps develop fine motor control and co-ordination that is needed for writing.
