A super week for these children, especially!

We have enjoyed listening to ‘Power Ballads’ all week – a lot of confusion occurred around the name of Meatloaf though! Whitney Houston went down well.

In Maths, we have moved from calculating the perimeter of shapes to calculating the area. This week’s homework is on the concept of area, so any adult support would be gratefully received, I am sure. On the whole, the children have become very responsible about completing and handing in homework on time – this is a really great way to be prepared for life further up the school. Some children still have to take a little bit more responsibility for this aspect of school before they move up to Y6.

Our leaflets about Yeadon Tarn are coming along nicely – it is interesting to hear how focused the children are on their ‘audience’ for this piece of work. This has been very motivating for my class. I think our Year 2s are in for a treat when we read them to them.

In our art lesson, we have begun to put the Greek patterns and drawings onto the vases made on Launch Day – they are looking very effective. I shall display the best of these when we have finished them.

We are really looking forward to celebrating David Attenborough’s birthday today – especially participating in Atten-bear’s picnic with our Reception Buddies, having a picnic and making animal masks.

Have a lovely weekend!

Yours,

Mrs Adrienne Amos
