Weekly Update-10/7/26

Posted: Jul 10, 2026 by: Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Beech Tree Blog

Hello everyone,

This week, in reading we have completed our final class novel of the year and the children really enjoyed it. We also had a really fun lesson where the children ranked the class novels from their favourite ones to their least favourite, explained why they put that book in that particular position and then the children drew a scene from each book that they really liked. It was lovely that we had completely different rankings from all the children and lots of different reasons why they put certain books in certain positions. Well done!

In maths, we are on our final unit of the year, which is statistics. The children have been learning about what statistics are, how the date can be presented in different ways and how to read and analyse different types of data from pictograms, line graphs and bar charts.

In writing, the children have been working hard on writing their magazine articles about the discovery of Tutankhamun by Howard Carter and his team. They have also edited them and are now ready to be published which we will focus on next week. They have all worked incredibly hard on these and produced some excellent pieces.

The children completed their Egyptian death masks this week and they look absolutely fantastic. They have all worked so hard on all the little details and this really shows in their completed pieces! Well done!

Take care,

Mr Kyriacou
