Weekly Update-19/6/26

Posted: Jun 18, 2026 by: Mr Kyriacou (n.kyriacou) on: Beech Tree Blog

Hello everyone,

This week, the children have been doing a range of assessments for the final time this year. They have all worked extremely hard on them and the results really show the incredible progress that a lot of the children have made throughout the year. Well done, everyone!

We have also continued reading our story time book called Vicky Angel by Jacqueline Wilson. Even though the story has some sad moments in it, the children are really enjoying it. They love Jacqueline Wilson’s writing style and how she navigates these difficult themes throughout her story. It has also allowed for lots of lovely discussions together as a class.

In art, the children have also started working on their papier mache Egyptian death masks, which they’re all really enjoying so far.

For science, we have continued our unit of work on plants. The focus of this week's lesson was pollination. Understanding the different stages of the pollination process and which animals are involved with the process. The children really enjoyed the lesson and were also able to relate to seeing different pollinators within their gardens and around the school grounds.

Science club is fully underway now for both KS1 and KS2 and the feedback has been great. The children are really enjoying all the different facts that they are learning as well as getting stuck in with the practical parts of it as well.

Take care,

Mr Kyriacou
