Week 5 comes to an end and just like that, we only have two school weeks left until we break up for the summer holidays!
This week has been a busy one yet again with our new English topic start where we will be designing out our own websites!
Below, I have copied our homework letter (also sent as a hard copy today).
Dear Parents/Carers,
Ancient Egypt is our history topic for this half term. For the remainder of the term, your homework task will be to use the ideas provided (below) to research further into this period of history and to create something inspired by your research. This could be a story, an information booklet, a painting, some 3D art, an ICT presentation… or whatever else you can think of. Be as creative as you like! Each individual homework project will be presented to the rest of the class, with each child explaining what they’ve created, what inspired them to focus on this idea, what they learnt and finally what they enjoyed about their homework.
Here is a simple list of ideas you could use. If you have any of your own ideas, please feel free to use them!
- The Big Project. Research an aspect of Ancient Egypt and use what you find out to create a full project. You can present this in any way you wish including a fact file or presentation.
- Egyptian Art. Make up your own story, it can be about anything you like but tell it through Hieroglyphics or Art!
- Make your own Ancient Egyptian movie – create a story or tell us how people lived throughout this period of time.
- Ancient Egyptian people could not pop to the shop for food. Everything they ate had to be grown or caught. They relied heavily on The Nile for this. Write your own recipe for an Ancient Egyptian dinner using the sort of ingredients that would be available to them
- Pyramid cake
- Write a story based in Ancient Egypt. You could even design a front and back cover for your story and write the blurb on the back if you like!
- Write an acrostic poem about Ancient Egypt.
- Write a list of at least 5 questions that you would like to ask an Ancient Egyptian person.
- Make up a quiz with facts about this period of history. Make sure you also have the answers!
Any projects that are electronic can be sent to the Willow, Cedar or Beech Tree class emails.

The children should aim to complete their projects and hand them in by Wednesday 16th July.

I expect I'll see some very tired (and hopefully cheery) faces on Monday morning after the England vs Mexico game at 1am! Please don't worry if any children miss the game due to the time, I will make sure we see the highlights on Monday at some point!!!
Have a great weekend all. Enjoy the weather!
