Weekly Update 2.5.24

In English we completed our work on 'Handa's Surprise'. We tasted different fruits from the story and created a class word bank to describe the taste, smell and texture of the fruit. We then used these descriptions to write a list poem of the fruit. Have a look at our display of this work below:
We have continued our art topic of sculptures. This week the children learnt about sculptor Barbara Hepworth. The children worked in teams to create their own family sculpture inspired by Barbara Hepworth's work. We then showcased our sculptures to each other on the playground.
The children also enjoyed learning about Africa in geography. We learnt some general facts about Africa including that over 2000 languages are spoken across Africa and that there are 54 countries in Africa. Next week we shall be using the atlases to locate countries in Africa.
