Maple Tree Home Learning - 2.4.20

Hi Maple Tree Class,

I hope you and your families are well.

It has been another strange week for us all as we begin to adjust to spending most of our time at home, although I hope you have been able to spend some time outside enjoying the fresh air. I have been working at home this week and making the most of my daily exercise walking my dog Oscar. He thinks that it is great having us all at home with him.

You should have been completing a few pages of your Home Learning packs a day. Don’t worry if you find some of it difficult; just try your best. Another activity you may want to take part in over the coming weeks is to write a diary. Remember - you are experts at writing diaries, as you wrote them in the role of a Victorian school child and imagined that you were Jim Jarvis from the novel Street Child. In years to come, your record of current events will be a primary source of your own history that you will be able to share with others. You only need to write a few lines and it doesn’t have to be every day. Remember to record events and most importantly include your feelings as these are what make diaries unique. I will really look forward to reading these and you can think about how you present them; perhaps you could include drawings and photographs?

The Easter holidays begin on Friday so take the opportunity to participate in some creative activities. There will be new home learning tasks for you to complete from Monday 20th April.

Keeping Safe

It is really important you all continue to keep yourselves safe.  As well as following the government guidelines, you need to remember all the things we teach you in school about keeping safe.  You can find information about keeping safe under the 'children' tab on our website.  In school we regularly talk to you about what you should do if you feel worried or upset.  It is important you talk to a trusted adult; remember you need to speak up and stay safe.  Miss Tidey, Mr Cooke and Mrs Moss (our Designated Safeguarding Leads) are still available and can be contacted at school.  If you are unable to talk to a trusted adult at school or at home about a worry you have, then you can speak to someone at ChildLine.  Please click on the following link and spend a few minutes reminding yourself of who you can talk to: https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/children/keeping-safe.  On this page you will also find information on how you can get help if you are worried about anything you see online.

As you are currently learning from home and could well be spending more time online, it is important you also keep yourself safe on the internet.  Please read (or ask an adult to read to you) our E-Safety Rules; you need to remember and follow these when using the internet at home.   Click on this link to view our E-Safety Rules: https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/children/internet-safety-information-for-children

We have also provided parents with information about how to keep children safe online.  Please click on the following link for advice on how to support your child to use the internet safely, responsibly and positively: https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/children/internet-safety-information-for-parents.  On this page there are also links to other websites and resources.

Have a Happy Easter!

Look after yourselves and keep safe

Mrs Trotter
