Oak Tree Home Learning - 2.4.20

01.04.20 - Home Learning Week 2

Hello Oak Tree Class children,

I hope you all had a productive week last week and joined in on Thursday night to clap for our heroes! I hope you are all well; I’m missing you all so much and am finding it very strange not seeing your smiley faces every day. Hopefully you’ve been brilliant at home for your adults and have been listening like you do in class.

I hope you’ve also managed to do some work each day, independently or with some help from an adult or sibling. I know it’s tricky as your adults are probably trying to work at home too. I’ve also been busy doing lots of work to do with your progress and planning for the next few weeks. Libby is loving having me at home all the time and I’m managing to get out (just once) each day to take her for a fun walk. I hope you’re also managing to get some daily fresh air.

Your home learning packs should keep you busy until the Easter Holidays (which would begin this Friday) and although you’re going to be mainly at home, it is sensible to have a little break from school work and maybe think about doing some Easter based tasks or simply getting outside and being creative - more so than you might have been over the last two weeks. Use this time to recharge your batteries, as we will be issuing a timetable and structured work for you to complete at the beginning of the summer term, after the Easter break.

It is important that you continue with your fantastic reading and you can use the Oxford Owls resource (link in previous message below) or your own books at home to do this. Please make a note in your Reading Record each time you have read as I would love to see your progress and reading journies you’ve been on once we are back in school. Try reading to your adult and see if they can ask you comprehension questions relating to your book. Click here for some questions that they can challenge you with – you could even print the picture and create a bookmark!

Thank you for working so hard.  Keep it up!

Wash your hands and stay safe.

Speak soon and best wishes,

Miss Johansson

Keeping Safe

It is really important you all continue to keep yourselves safe.  As well as following the government guidelines, you need to remember all the things we teach you in school about keeping safe.  You can find information about keeping safe under the 'children' tab on our website.  In school we regularly talk to you about what you should do if you feel worried or upset.  It is important you talk to a trusted adult; remember you need to speak up and stay safe.  Miss Tidey, Mr Cooke and Mrs Moss (our Designated Safeguarding Leads) are still available and can be contacted at school.  If you are unable to talk to a trusted adult at school or at home about a worry you have, then you can speak to someone at ChildLine.  Please click on the following link and spend a few minutes reminding yourself of who you can talk to: https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/children/keeping-safe.  On this page you will also find information on how you can get help if you are worried about anything you see online.

As you are currently learning from home and could well be spending more time online, it is important you also keep yourself safe on the internet.  Please read (or ask an adult to read to you) our E-Safety Rules; you need to remember and follow these when using the internet at home.   Click on this link to view our E-Safety Rules: https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/children/internet-safety-information-for-children

We have also provided parents with information about how to keep children safe online.  Please click on the following link for advice on how to support your child to use the internet safely, responsibly and positively: https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/children/internet-safety-information-for-parents.  On this page there are also links to other websites and resources.
