Weekly Update 23.4.21

Posted: Apr 23, 2021 by: Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Ash Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hello!

Our first week of Summer term is complete and it appears to have brought the sun with it!

Our new topic this term is "Scientists and Inventors" and this links nicely with our science topic, "Evolution and Inheritance".

In English, we have been researching the Galapagos Islands and beginning to write travel brochures for these amazing islands. We watched some clips from David Attenborough's documentary, Galapagos 3D to help us. The children may wish to continue watching this at home as it is available online.

In maths, Mrs Trotter and Mrs Senior's groups have been learning about algebra.

Miss Bairstow's group have been learning about decimals. We have been focusing on the place value of decimal digits throughout the week and today decided to make the most of the lovely weather by learning outside! We had to search the KS2 playground for several decimal riddle cards and then read the clues carefully and use our knowledge of place value to work out the decimal numbers the riddles were describing. We worked in teams to find the answers and really enjoyed learning outdoors for a change.

Check back next week to see our finished Galapagos Island travel brochures!
