Weekly Update 1.4.21

Posted: Mar 31, 2021 by: Miss Bairstow (d.bairstow) on: Ash Tree Class Blog 2020-2021

Hi,

Spring term

The last 4 weeks have absolutely flown by and I have been impressed with how the class have returned to school. They have all been working hard and now deserve a well earned rest!

This week we have been completing some Easter themed problems in maths and planning/writing a report about everything we have learnt this term about the ancient Maya.

The highlight of this week though was building helicopters! Ash Tree have been taught by Mr Smith for science this year and have been learning about electrical circuits and for the last few weeks have been planning/designing a helicopter model complete with working rotor blades! The children used a combination of their scientific knowledge/Design & Technology skills to build their helicopters. I was so impressed with their knowledge of circuits and how sensible they were using the different tools needed to complete their working models. Below are a few snapshots but for more pictures/videos of their fantastic projects click here.

In other news, we shared a link several weeks ago during home learning with information regarding an online art exhibition we have signed up for. The Young Artists’ Summer Show is run by the Royal Academy of Arts and we would like more of you to get involved.

The Young Artists' Summer Show love seeing your personality, imagination, thoughts and feelings shine through your artwork. They believe art is about expressing yourself in a way that comes naturally to you. There are no rules, your submission can be created using any art materials you like. You could paint, sketch or even sculpt!

If you're thinking about creating something for the exhibition but aren't sure how to get started, why not set aside some time this Easter to get your creative juices flowing? All great art starts somewhere! For more information about the exhibition and ideas about how to get started please visit:

https://www.ruffordparkprimary.org.uk/information/curriculum/art-dt/royal-academy-of-arts-young-artists-summer-show

Submissions are open until 26 April 2021.

Have a great Easter break (fingers crossed for good weather!) and I look forward to seeing you all in the SUMMER term!

Miss Bairstow :)
