Pear Tree Home Learning - 18.5.20
Hello Pear Tree Class,
I have been able to start making phone calls to some of you yesterday and today to see how you all are. It has been absolutely wonderful to hear some of your voices! The Mums and Dads that I have spoken to have told me how fantastic you have been at home for your adults. I hope you are all trying really hard to be good, listening to your grown-ups and doing any work you've been asked to do. If I haven't called you yet, don't worry. I hope that I will have spoken to everyone before the end of the day on Friday.
I hope you all watched the staff video that we sent for you last week. The quote that I held up was partly from Christopher Robin in Winnie the Pooh. I love Winnie the Pooh books, he's such a funny little bear. If you want to watch a little video of Pooh and Christoper Robin talking about that quote, you can see it here.
I have created some more work for you this week and I hope you are finding it OK. There is also some news on some science challenges that Mr Kyriacou has sent for us! All the information is at the bottom of this page. I know lots of you love science and it could be a really fun thing to be involved in!
I hope you are all enjoying doing the work and you are happy and well.
Stay safe and happy everyone!
Mrs Connolly

Mr Kyriacou has told us about a Great Science Share, which gets children to think and work scientifically. Up until the 16th June, they are running weekly themes that revolve around Global Sustainability. It would be lovely if you can get involved in this. Parents can register on the GSS website, and each week I will upload a new document with ideas and links related to the weekly theme. If you do take part, and you want to send us any photos or videos of the work that you have produced, you can email the office and Mr Kyriacou can put it onto the school website!
The weekly themes are below. Click below to read a bit more about the Great Science Share and this week's special theme.
Weekly Themes:
11th – 17th May – Celebrating Royal Astronomical Society 200 years
18th – 24th May – National Scavenger Hunt Day (and International Day for Biological Diversity)
25th – 31st May – Waste Warrior Week: focus on thinking about what we eat and buy – making clever choices to limit how much we waste, reuse and recycle.
