The penultimate week! 11.07.25

It has been a very busy penultimate week in Cedar class. The children have been to visit their new classroom and have met their new teachers. We had a few nerves but they have all coped very well and the new teachers had very positive things to say about the visits.
In English we have been thinking about the features of instruction writing as we prepare to write instructions on how to make a cushion.
In reading we have been practising reading poetry aloud and the children have worked in groups to practise and perform their pieces.
In maths, Year 3 have been revising some key learning to get them ready for year 4 and Year 4 have been learning about coordinates.
In Science, we conducted an experiment to find out which liquid had the most detrimental effect on egg shell as this is made of a similar material to the enamel on our teeth – the results are yet to be observed but the egg in vinegar is looking (and smelling) pretty awful.
In Art the children have been sewing their cushions. They have worked very hard to thread the needles, sew carefully, cut the felt and stuff the cushions. This has been a really challenging task but we are so impressed with the perseverance that we have seen. Cushions will be coming home soon so look out for them!
It is looking like another very hot weekend – take care and enjoy the warm weather and we will see you next week.
***School disco Tuesday 3:30 – please check you emails/messages on parent pay.
Thank you, Mrs Ward and Miss Maher
